SECOM CO., LTD

PRESS RELEASE

SECOM launches the “Home Defense Project” with brand ambassador Shohei Ohtani. As the new commercial “Cherished Things” airs nationwide starting August 17, a social media campaign invites the public to share their own ‘Cherished Things’

SECOM CO., LTD. (Headquarters: Shibuya, Tokyo; President: Yasuyuki Yoshida) will launch a new initiative titled the “Home Defense Project” on Sunday, August 17, in collaboration with Shohei Ohtani, who has served as the company’s ambassador since March.

Main visual of the project

This project was inspired by Ohtani’s recent experience of welcoming a new family member, which deepened his desire to protect the irreplaceable space—his home—where he and his loved ones can feel truly safe with peace of mind.

As the first phase of the project, SECOM will begin airing a new commercial titled “Cherished Things” nationwide on August 17. In the commercial, Ohtani traces his “cherished things” through photographs of invaluable treasures. Displayed across a wall, these include everyday essentials such as food and exercise equipment, as well as meaningful items such as his first baseball glove that supported his challenges. The photographs reflect memories that have been deeply etched into the heart of a man who continues to push forward in his journey. With the tagline, “I’m living with the things I cherish,” the commercial illustrates SECOM Home Security’s commitment to protecting what matters most to each individual, delivering safety and peace of mind to households across Japan.

As the second phase of the project, SECOM will launch a social media campaign on Sunday, August 17, inviting users to share photos of their own “cherished things” on X (formerly Twitter) using the hashtag #わたしのたいせつなもの. Participants are encouraged to reflect on what they value and to raise awareness of the importance of protecting those things in daily life. Participants who submit a post will be entered into a prize draw to win either an original SECOM key case or a ¥5,000 Amazon gift card.

Please stay tuned for future content aimed at raising awareness around home security and crime prevention. (Details will be announced at a later date.)

Commercial Story

The wall is covered with countless photographs—images of sunflower seeds, a pile of boiled eggs, everyday tools—simple items that blend seamlessly into daily life. Among them are treasured mementos like a pair of goggles filled with memories made with his friends, and a hand-me-down glove that supported his early challenges. Photos of the sky after a victorious day game and a medal gifted by fans represent shared experiences that transcend personal ownership. As he continues to pursue his dreams, Ohtani pauses to reflect and realizes just how many “cherished things” he wants to protect. Gazing at the photos, he is reminded of the value of being surrounded by what truly matters. “I’m living with the things I cherish.” This message embodies SECOM’s commitment to supporting all those who continue to challenge themselves, and to providing a safe and secure environment where their most valued possessions are protected. The commercial concludes with Ohtani’s narration: “SECOM—Have you got it?”
